Data Lab is an analytical center focused on advancing evidence-based public policy and high-quality applied research. We integrate analytical methods, fieldwork, and international collaboration to generate knowledge aimed at addressing societal challenges.

To strengthen the culture of evidence-based policy and applied research by generating knowledge that supports effective public governance in Kazakhstan and beyond.

To become the leading regional center for applied research and data analysis, enhancing Kazakhstan’s participation in global academic and policy-analytical discussions.

What we do?

We conduct quantitative, qualitative, and mixed-method research in public governance, education, social policy, digitalization of public services, sustainable development, and related fields.
We organize seminars, consultations, and project support, including data analytics, field research, interviewing, coding, visualization, and the preparation of research designs.
We collaborate with foreign analytical centers, universities, and research programs. We implement joint projects, exchange programs, and academic publications.
We integrate modern tools (R, Stata, NVivo, Python, GIS, etc.) into academic courses, research practices, and student internships.

Our History

Data Lab was established at the Graduate School of Public Policy to develop the university’s research infrastructure and enhance the quality of academic and applied research.
